Death of Hawkman #5

Is this some sexist commentary about how women are easily manipulated? Or just some fan service Hawkman nipple?

The Review!
My friends and I once wrote a Galactic Hero Corps story called "The Death of Mr. Mystic." The joke was that during the mission, Buck the Ogre was the one who died. Mr. Mystic just died of old age at the end of the story. The tone of the Galactic Hero Corps was always stupid whimsy so you might expect that kind of thing when reading it. But I'm not sure if the tone of this comic book is supposed to be so ridiculous that it's okay to kill Green Lantern Isamot in the middle of a Death of Hawkman story. I suppose it does fix one thing that always bothered me since Isamot's ring flies over to the finger of a winged Thanagarian. That makes more sense for a Green Lantern of Thanagar than Isamot ever did! Sure, Thanagar is made up of several different races (or something. What am I? A scholar of the Polaris solar system?!) but nobody thinks of Thanagar when they see a Lizarkon (or whatever! Remember that thing about not being a scholar?!).

Also, Hawkgirl wasn't in this issue at all so I don't know why she's beating up Hawkman's nipples on the cover.

Aside from all that, Despero just keeps making trouble. He's definitely controlling Alanna so I guess she's not as huge a dick as I've been speculating.

The Ranking!
No change!

Death of Hawkman #4

I hope Hawkman dies this issue!

The Review!
Hawkman still isn't dead! Zero stars! But Despero is now covered in Nth Metal! As if he wasn't already powerful enough. Now he's also practically invincible. I hope he suffers some kind of heavy metal toxicity from being covered in so much of the stuff.

Alanna is still being a real asshole warmonger. Despero explains it as her being driven mad by her father's supposed death. But a better explanation would be that Despero is controlling her mind. Otherwise she's being a real fucking dick who's going to get everybody killed.

Adam Strange is also still in this comic book but he doesn't do much this issue aside from almost throw up a number of times.

Death of Hawkman #3

I hope these two guys discuss archaeology for most of this book.

I hope Andreyko decides to surprise everybody and kill off Hawkman three issues early! The story would still have to deal with the aftermath of Hawkman's death and Adam Strange would have to overcome crazy odds to win (because he's, you know, just stupid Adam Strange. All he has is a laser pistol. Although it's better than a mace, I guess?). The only reason I can think to not kill Hawkman this issue is that it's the only reason most of us are probably reading this series. As soon as Hawkman dies, I'll be satisfied with the story.

Adam Strange is having trouble dealing with killing people. He's not used to being in actual wars where lives are at stake. The only thing he's good at is banging his students. He's apparently so manly that he nearly vomits seeing Katar's penis. Unless Thanagarians have disgusting looking genitals. That's probably a better explanation.

Seeing Katar's penis was where the flashback left off last issue. The story continues from there which is a shame because Hawkman is definitely not going to be dying in a flashback.

Aha! Strange is definitely intrigued by Katar's nakedness!

The woman who bedded Hawkman is named Seraphene so if I knew anything about DC Comics, I'd probably know how she's super important now or something. The only Seraphene I can think of is one of those Forever People. But I don't think she's white or blonde or into fucking Hawkmen.

Katar and Adam realize Despero is behind the attempt to set Rann and Thanagar on a path to war. But they're no match for Despero! They're only C-List members of Justice League Canada. What can they do to save two worlds from destroying each other?

Seraphene might not be as important as I thought she'd be. She's just a plot point so that the security forces on Thanagar would know where to find Adam Strange when the report goes out that he's wanted.

Cyborg is able to confirm that Despero is no longer in Belle Reve. Well, maybe somebody should have placed him in The Catacombs underneath Death Valley! That's where the truly dangerous cosmic villains are supposed to be held. I guess The Catacombs didn't actually exist at the time. Or maybe Batman forgot to tell Justice League Canada about the prison.

Before Hawkman and Adam Strange can begin their pursuit of Despero (without any help because, as usual, the rest of the League is "on a mission." And nobody cares if Cyborg joins them. It's going to take a lot more than a White Noise Cannon to stop Despero), some Thanagarian security guards arrive to beat the shit out of Adam Strange.

Back on his home planet, Despero kills the priests maintaining the stasis pods of everyone on Kalador. He then frees them and convinces them to be his army to take over some other planets. I hear Rann and Thanagar are particularly nice this time of the galactic cycle. I mean, I don't know where they're actually headed but Hawkman and Adam Strange are headed to Kalador, so maybe they'll run into each other along the way.

Meanwhile, Alanna is acting like an asshole. Maybe she's only now realizing Adam Strange's abuse of power and manipulation of trust in forming a relationship with one of his students. Or student aides. Nearly the same thing.

The Ranking!
No change. DC Comics has decided that all of their mini-series need to be six issues long. But none of their writers seem to be able to come up with a six issue long story. So the pacing is generally all over the place as they try to stretch what little story they have over 120 pages. This issue is absolutely a filler issue. Everything that happened this issue could easily have taken place in a couple pages at the end of last issue and maybe a couple pages at the beginning of the next issue. And I'm sure both of those issues have some pages they could have tossed out.

New Guardians #37

Geese cream fat sheep when it's cold outside! Every moment I'm awake, prefer their lemonade!

I just looked at this cover and it made me think Kyle must be dreaming which is why I quoted that Heart song in the caption. I love how the lyrics don't make any sense! They're so dreamlike!

Last issue, Kyle lost his White Ring because he's a huge idiot. While everybody else has been stubbornly fighting the New Gods because it's painfully obvious that they're not going to help the universe at all (and, even if they somehow do something right, at the very least they're not giving back the rings), Kyle just walked up to Highfather and said, "Here! Take my ring!" Then three seconds later, Kyle said, "Hey! Give me back my ring!" But by then it was too late. Stupid Kyle had doomed the universe to doom of the doomiest kind. And now Carol's lady boner for Kyle probably wilted.

Yes she's mad at you! She wanted to fuck you! And then you went and showed her that you're not only a wussy baby puss-puss, but you're stupid too!

Carol probably doesn't mind that Kyle is a wussy baby puss-puss because she was with Hal for a long time and he was the opposite of a wussy baby puss-puss (a tough senior mutt-mutt?). But a smart lady like Carol can't be wasting her time with an idiot that falls for the second oldest scam in the universe. The first oldest scam in the universe is that one where you pretend your wife is your sister and then you get her to marry a king or a pharaoh. Then you accidentally find a way for the king or pharaoh to find out that she's your wife and that you have the meanest, angriest God on the block so he quickly apologizes and sends you away with half of his wealth and cattle and camels because he doesn't want God striking him down. That one was so good that Abraham used it twice! And his son Isaac used it too! On the same guy, Abimelech, that Abraham used it on! That Abimelech sure was a horny idiot!

As Kyle and Carol pretend that maybe they can find a way out of this, Metron stops by in his comfy chair to declare that they have not yet fulfilled their roles!

He gives up too easily and he's wrong. He tries throwing rocks at Metron's head and he's wrong. Cut him some slack, Carol!

Just imagine if Black Racer came by for a visit! Kyle could get the comfy chair and Carol could strap on the skis and they could storm New Genesis!

So now, after Highfather makes a huge mess of everything, his underlings are starting to have second thoughts about all of this shit. Maybe if they all had backbones as big as Orion's, they would have stood up to Highfather earlier and pointed out how he's acting an awful lot like a certain stone face master of a burning prison planet of death and destruction.

Metron drops off an ancient Mother Box for Kyle and Carol to use. It has to be ancient because the newer models are attuned to their users. Anybody can use this old one but that means it's also likely to have just one use left in it. Also, if they both grab it and sing the proper song, they can turn into Infinity Man!

Elsewhere on New Genesis, Malhedron heads off to rescue Guy Gardner and Simon Baz, leaving behind John Stewart and that dopey sperm-headed cunt Saint Walker to fend for themselves. But they're not alone for long.

Great! Now they have three useless people, one Green Lantern, and a squirrel.

The reunion is interrupted by some of Highfather's Divine Guards. But Kyle has a plan! And I think his plan depends on his belief that the New Gods won't kill him. For some reason, Highfather didn't kill him or turn him into a good soldier. So Kyle might still have some kind of link to the Life Equation that Highfather would lose if Kyle were to die. Maybe. It's all comic book nonsense so it's kind of hard to speculate in any kind of logical way!

Kyle and the gang manage to steal the Divine Guards' weapons and turn them on the Guards. Now that they're all equipped with some kind of firepower, they head off to find Highfather and tell him he's acting like an idiot.

They actually find him surprisingly quick. I thought they'd have to wait for Red Lanterns or something. During the five or so minutes that it takes them to walk to Highfather's location, the Bohemian Guardians escape the Singularity Stockade. I guess the New Gods haven't quite perfected the technology to imprison beings older than they are.

Kyle manages to get his White Ring back but it does him little good. It's got no juice left! And I don't think a White Battery exists, does it? Anyway, it seems Highfather has all the White Juice locked up inside of himself now. And he decides to spray it all over his rivals.

Whoops!

New Guardians #37 Rating: No change. Just three more issues of Godhead! I bet it ends like every other Green Lantern Cosmic Crisis! Which is...well, um, actually...I kind of forget how they all ended. I guess the Green Lanterns discovered they had more willpower reserves than they had before or something and beat the crap out of the bad guys? Oh, who cares, really. Another Cosmic Crisis is probably already right around the corner!

Futures End: Green Lantern Corps #1

Five years ago, the world as we know it ceased to be. Luckily, the world as we know it from The Road Warrior came into being. Many people were prepared for this turn of events. Too bad those people were geeks and nerds without any real survival skills. Tragically, they were all rape-murdered by corporate CEOs who, it turned out, were the biggest sociopaths on the planet. Some nerds and geeks survived longer than others due to their proficiency at oral sex. But even these desperate, shameless nerds could not last for long. Eee! Tess Ate Chai Tea gave and gave and gave but eventually, as he knew deep down would happen, he used a little too much teeth. He was thrown into Lightning Dome, a more terrifying version of Thunder Dome, where twenty combatants entered and nineteen left. Mostly because the nineteen were working together to fightfuck the lone other. Eee! Tess Ate Chai Tea lasted thirteen minutes, a good showing but not good enough to be remembered for more than the long weekend.

As it turned out, some of the most depraved and richest CEOs were the biggest fans of Eee! Tess Ate Chai Tea. When the updates stopped (for, you see, DC Comics continued to publish during these post-apocalyptic times although their market share was now worse than Dynamite. In their defense, Gail Simone was being forced to write all of the titles deep within Dynamite headquarters, and all of the titles featured naked lesbians as every character), the CEOs grew desperate for the only written entertainment they could stomach. A new Tess was needed. And who better to take over the job than the monster that delivered the death thrust to Tess, Goggles McDeathhurt.

And now, five years later, Goggles McDeathhurt and Xanadux Rat Wine (Mit Jellied Pinkies) Present: HOLY FUCK! Don't Put That There Chai Tea!

Welcome back, Scanners! Memember backs in da Formertimes how scared everduster was gettin' mit ever fing, from foreigners ta youfs ta drugs ta guns ta poverty ta jess bout anyfing ya can fink on. Peeps so scared a everting dat dey forgetted how dif'cult it been ta be young y full a rampagin' hormones mit an ultimately incomplete brain so any time some dumb dumb kid did somefin stupid dat might ruin dat kid's future selfs life, dey fink it were okay ta put dat kid on trials as an adult. Peeps so hungry fer punishments dat dey finkin' it be okay ta ignore da reasons fer juvenile law. Jess finking ta demselfs, "That child is going to get away with murder unless they are tried as an adult! They'll be free at eighteen! Where is the justice in that?!" Whevver peeps likes it or not, da justice system weren't set up jess ta protect da victims of crimes, sees? Da perpetrators of dem crimes also needs protection from da emotional y rabid mobs dat jess wants ta see blood fer blood. Und while somedust dat's 'propriate, sees, sometimes it ain'ts. And dats when da justice system uz s'posed ta tell da angry peeps, "We's know alla ya alls peeps supremely pissed offs right now but we gots ways ta deal mit criminals what don't involves torches y horses y swinging corpses, kays? We knows whats we be doin' und we 'preciate ya don't be pushin' us 'round while we's tryin' ta do da best job ta protect everduster in dis here case." Even dat...even dat which Goggs jess said woulda gonna raise da hackles on some dem Formertimes peeps acause dey donna wanna hear bout some duster jess murdered some ovver duster havin' any rights. "They gave up those rights the minute they took away some other person's life," dems scared peeps sayin. Mos' cases, mayhaps dat be true. Dat sure be true now in The Dusty Stretches. Justice dead und buried here und if'n ya wanna be a dick, ya gonna haff ta answer ta all dem ovver baddest asses dat violently, murderously, vigilanteishly hate peeps being dicks.

So anydust, back ta dat fing bout kinderen being tried as adults in dem Formertimes. When some kid murders or rapes or seriously y maliciously harms some uvver kid, peeps cryin' out ta try dat kid as an adult acause all dey can sees is da punishment. All dey sees is da victim needs justice. But deys forgets dat kids ain't built fer adult society. Dey cain't, physically, unnerstand some dem consequences of dere actions. Und da adult dey gonna one day become shouldna haff ta live dere entire lifes in jail fer somefin dat stupid, half-brained kid did years ago. Yeah, dem victims gonna haff ta live mit da pain of being victimize, truth. But some dusters gotta fink bout da dumb dumb fing dey did as a kid y a teen und how much dey regrets dat stuff even dough dey never been punished fer it und re'lize da later, adult selfs of dese juvenile criminals gonna hates dat kid dey was as well. Dis one dem problems mit dat Way of the Liard religion und da like...dey fink evil be an actual entity. Dey fink ya can label peeps as jess evil or jess goods. But really, peeps jess animals forced inta dis fuckity culture, dis make believe society, dis artyficial construct dat weren't meant fer dere animal brains. Takes fuckin' time ta figger it out, more fer some den fer ovvers. But da ones dat says, "I knew right from wrong my whole life!" or "My parents taught me that I shouldn't forcefully impose my will on others even though the animal part of my brain desired something and I hadn't yet developed the cognitive ability to process empathy yet, so why can't everybody else have lived my exact life and reacted the exact way that I did, hunh? Answer me that!"

Sure, sure. It's fuckin' tough fer da victims y dere families ta see some convicted juvenile walk affer jess a scant few years of punishments. Dat's obvious. But truths being, a society gotsta takes inta account how da juvenile brain grows afore dey frow away da life of the adult dat juvenile will someday become. We all of us been dat raw, emotional, hormonal, every nerve ending firing way hotter den seem possible a'times, und mos' a us...well, mos' a youse...made it frough dat time lucky y unscathed. Ya didna do somefin stupid dat mighta ruint yer life. Ya fink ya made it frough cause ya had common sense and good parents and youse were smart y polite and followed the rules. But really, ya were jess damned lucky, sees? Fate, providence, random happenstance jess never putted ya in a situation where ya wound up doin' somefin stupid, feels? Jess like ever now y den, some kid falls outta some tree und breaks her Goddessdamned neck...nobody gonna blame dat kid fer being a kid und not knowin' any better 'bout safety or how ta climb a tree. Dat kid jess revelin' in pure kid joy und somefin bad happened and dat was it. We alla us jess lucky ta survive childhood. Some a youse dusters jess lucky ta make it frough mitout ruining da life of da adult ya were bound ta become. Und some of us, sees, includin' Old Goggs here...well, some of us were given second chances fanks ta da foresight of a legel system dat knows kids takes some time ta gets mit da program dat culture y society 'spects us ta git wit from birf.

Anydust, dat's da long way of Goggs sayin if ya wanna change da world...if ya wan' fings ta be mucho different from dem Formertimes, ya gotta look ta dem what don't know any better. Dem dat weren't corrupted by round trip affer round trip of law built upon law built upon social contracts built upon hearsay y heresy und fear y loathing and the illusion of safety and bullshit affer bullshit affer bullshit or racism y sexism und bigotry. That's Old Goggs thought, anydust. Mayhap it be time we see how dem kids groweds up outside dose Formertimes and outside da influence of dem Formertimes here in da first few round trips of The Dusty Stretches...mayhap it's time ta see how dey gettin' along mit dis world, sees? Mayhap dey come up mit somefin we can works mit. At da very least...dere's hopes in havin' kinderen around, even if dey wild y unruly. And mayhap dey be jess malleable y wild enough ta grasp all dat horsedick philosophy Goggs choked down while at Buzztown.

Enh. We'll be seein'. Soons, I guess. How 'bout lookin' at a fun fun littyrapture book dat looks like, jess judgin' by da cover (which I fink I pobably shouldna do, right?!) with Stewart as an Indigo, it mights be 'bout redemption itdelf.

Poor, misunderstood Lantern Stewart. He has racked up lotsa lotsa kills but all mit gute reason. Cept maybe dat time his arrogance caused a planet ta blowed up. Dat mayhap jess been chalked up ta da learnin' sperience.

'Parently, da Green Lantern Corps wants ta take back Space Sector Zero ta reestablish control da unyverse. Ugh. Fuckity fuck control. Dat missin' da whole point of a police force. Youse guys weren't s'posed ta be military, feels? Ya established youselfs ta protect y serve, ja? Enough mit dis control bullshit. It onny leads ta fuckin' ruin, ta hatred, ta conflict y aggression. Peeps donna need ta be controlled. Dey need ta trusted, fuckers.

John picks Feska ta go on da mission ta Oa mit him. Old Goggs woulda choosed 2-6-8-1-7-9-5 acause...well, Old Goggs donna really know why. Somefin mussa comed over her...demonical possession or somefin. Also finkin 'bout some vampire named Tig alla sudden. Fuckity weird, ja?

Imagine a unyverse where all da dusters ya know are friends und dere ain't no duster mit ulterior motives or desire fer powers causin' rifts all updown dose friendships. Old Goggs gots high hopes fer places like Upper Kinder Camp, feels her?

Indigo-1 arrives, like one dem ghosts from dat urban bout da greedy guy, ta teach Johns a lesson. See dese Indigo dusters be criminals what been given second chances by dem rings acause da indigo light be 'bout compassion. Dats da part of justice mos' peeps tend ta forgets. Noduster seem ta wanna pay no mind ta compassion y rehabilitation. Dey jess wants ta live in da easy world fulla black y whte und good y evil. Gray fucks dem up, sees it? Dey donna wanna hear bout no gray horsedick acause it jess be too difficult. Dat's where John findin' himselfs right now. Givin' up on da gray cause da bullet in da head of anyduster not playin' by his rules be easier den figgerin' out a way ta make peace.

Old Goggs figger dat dis here writers, Vans Jensens, got some close up personal unnerstandin' a dem juvenile indiscretionaries.

I speakeded on dis while back when I readem dat Batgirl issue, bout how da Goddess say everting ya encounter, ya encounterin' at jess da right moment, at zactly da time ya needs it. Dis here fun fun book...it jess provin' ta Old Goggs dat she on da right track und dat sendin' da Prof ta Upper Kinder Camp, if'n he got my secret message during my Suicide Squad broadcast, was da right fing ta do. Dis here what dat leader of dem Indigos says, right dere at da near-end: "All appears bleak, so many embrace entropy and lash out. So many dark souls decide that building the future is hopeless. Instead they destroy. But do not follow this path, children. For there exists another road." Dat's Old Goggles way, what was da way she found in Buzztown, what was da way The Professor tried ta git inta her fick head in dat first round trip affer da General Breakdown. We gonna rebuild da future. We gonna fill dese here hearts up mit hope. But we ain't gonna rebuild dat which oncet was. Dat da part Old Goggs saw afore Prof or Savant, bless her pacifist hearts, saw. Dey stuck in old ideas y old ways. But Old Goggs is too, somewhat. Mired in what were learned by too many years in da Formertimes. Dats why, and dis Old Goggs' idea alone, she gonna learn bout dem kinderen places. Hopes Prof gits back ta her soons mit some intels, sees? Cain't jess march in unprepared. Cautious be da way, dis time. Dey might be reactin' like scared rabbits when we come acallin...but dey also might turns out ta be da fuckity honey badgers everduster a'eady finks day are. No tellin, really. It all jess urban affer urban bout dem kinderen places.

Anydust, gonna be gittin' long ta Reading City soon. Hear tell dem Long Boxes be jammin' Goggs' broadcast und talkin' over it ta da Lower Voices demselfs. Dis trip mayhap gonna be a bits more violent den Goggs a'eady hoped it uz gonna be. Goddess walk wif ya, feels it?

New Guardians #34

If I were Kyle, I would defeat the Psions just after they'd killed all the Bohemian Guardians.

It's understandable that people find God when they go through traumatic or painful experiences. I'm a staunch atheist and I moan, "Please Jesus. Oh Jesus fucking Christ. Jesus jesus jesus please," when I'm wracked by severe cramps sitting on the toilet bowl. If just a bout of diarrhea can make me wish for the healing power of a minor God's mortal son, just imagine if I were nearly dying! I'd probably even ask Mormon Jesus for help! Hell, I might ask him for help anyway. I think he wears a holster with two six shots and sings all of his parables. Remember when he sang about kids never telling lies and that idiot that confesses to breaking a window? Mormon Jesus is awesome.

I wish there were a comic book about Mormon Jesus. Maybe that's the independent comic book I was born to write!

If anybody in the DC Universe can use the word "kaiju" without me judging them just a little bit, it's Kyle Rayner.

Look, we all judge everybody all the time for various, sundry, idiotic reasons. So don't judge me for judging people over using a stupid word! At least I'm honest about my faults! Sometimes I can't fucking stand you readers, always trying to change me into something I'd rather not be! Jerkos! This blog was so much better when only Doom Bunny and Swickape were reading it!

I wonder if the younger and younger the writers become (or the younger and younger voices they try to simulate *cough*ScottLobdell*touchmyselfsecretly*), the more and more old man ranty I'm going to become. I said "ranty" not "randy!" Although what makes old men so hands on and gropey? You're creeping us all out, old dude!

I bet this issue is called "Sacrifices" because Quaros sacrifices himself to save the others! Who else is going to sacrifice anything in this comic book? Certainly not Carol Ferris! She's worth too much money for that kind of peasant-type bullshit. Sacrifice! I bet she doesn't even know what the word means! Or that its mantra is "BEH!" Oh wait, is that the mantra for Compassion? Fuck it. Who needs to know about sacrifice anyway!

Oh! Tinkers! That's who! Duh!

Meanwhile, the Bohemian Guardians escape.

Don't bother. He's already the second segment of an Alien Centipede.

Meanwhile Carol Ferris frees all the other biological experiments so that they can curl up in a ball and cry forever while not being imprisoned. At least the ones that didn't have their tear ducts removed. Or sewn shut. Or switched with their rectums. Although I'm sure those ones can still cry as well but they'd better hold in that turd. Ick!

Instead of crying like I would do, the maltreated aliens rush from their cells like horror monsters exiting a bank of elevators in that movie that basically felt like a lost episode of Angel. Didn't it seem like the evil organization in Cabin in the Woods might as well have been Wolfram and Hart?

That smoke is really starting to piss me off. I want to see what's going on in Quaros's basement!

Quaros decides that the only way to defeat the Psions is to destroy the ship with all of the Psions and their experiments inside of it. That means he'll die too because that has something to do with sacrifice. I looked up the meaning while you were busy in another browser window. But Quaros does make sure that the other Bohemian Guardians, Kyle Rayner, and Carol Ferris are all far away when the ship explodes.

The only problem with the explosion is that it went "BOOM" and before that, a little box was going, "Ping. Ping. Ping." We all know what that means, right? Quaros is on Apokolips now! I'm sure we'll be seeing him again in the Godhead crossover.

Says the woman who earlier finished Kyle's sentence that began with "We need to--" and ended with her saying "Find the Guardians and get some additional brainpower working on this?" I'm more apt to believe in gamma radiation turning a person into a Hulk than I am to believe that people ever finish other people's sentences as often as they do in comic books.

That whole "we finish each other's sandwiches" exchange between Tobias and Lindsay in Arrested Development is, well...actually it's just one moment in a show full of goddamned motherfucking pure genius.

New Guardians #34 Rating: No change. The main problem I have with this comic book is that I don't care about any of the characters. Otherwise, I like how he's off doing his own thing and having his own adventures with Carol. But I guess I can kiss that shit goodbye since he's going to get dragged right back into Green Lantern Corps drama in October. At least this crisis will star the New Gods. I hope Metron runs over Kilowog in his space chair. Then Black Racer will ski up and be all, "Dude, you're dead. You're dead dude. Dude. Dead. You're dead. Dude."

The Green Team #6

Did anybody at DC truly envision this comic book reaching issue #100?

Enthusiastic DC Editor: "Hey guys! I know! Let's create a comic book about a bunch of trillionaires! Trillionaires have so much money that even Spell Check can't believe it's a real word! But you know who will buy a comic book about trillionaires? TRILLIONAIRES! It's like printing money!"
Less Enthusiastic DC Editor: "I'm not sure there are any actual trillionaires."
Enthusiastic DC Editor: "Well then billionaires will buy it!"
Less Enthusiastic DC Editor: "No billionaires are going to want to be reminded that they don't have a trillion dollars."
Enthusiastic DC Editor: "Then the poverty stricken masses will buy it up by the wagon load to escape their hum drum life to live vicariously through these characters! Remember how successful Richie Rich was?! Or Silver Spoons? Or Dif'rent Strokes?! Poor people love and idolize rich people!"
Less Enthusiastic DC Editor: "Whatever. I'm going to come up with another comic book starring The Batman."

I was hoping this comic book would give me tips on how to become a Teen Trillionaire but so far I'm still old and broke. Stupid comic book.

Last issue, The Green Team had been stranded on a meteor fighting some guy named Ass Tickle. I mean Icicle. Fuck, dude. I don't believe you should be granted super powers if you can't even come up with a creative name for yourself. Even Coldsnap would be better than Icicle. Even though Icicle has "sick" and "kill" in it, this jerk couldn't be bothered to trick up his name so it plays up to either of those things.

Icicle: "I'm Icicle! EMPHASIS ON THE KILL! Unless you pronounce it properly and then the accent is on the CULL!"

I bet Bellachek Temple has a brother named Cannon in Coral City!

The fight on the meteor continues with some not-so-innocent scientist getting killed because he decided to side with The Green Team and not The Icicle and his lover Bellachek Temple. Icicle then decides to smash the meteor into pieces, destroying the only working shuttle left on the meteor and sending everybody and everything crashing down into Earth's atmosphere.

It pretty much happens just like this. Except in Japanese.

They crash land their gigantic hunk of rock just outside of Bellachek Temple's offices in Chicago.

Oh come on, Green Team creative team! If you'd introduced this guy in the first few issues, you'd have had a hit on your hands!

I wonder if everybody in the corporate offices refers to Icicle as "I Suck Bel."

Commodore 64 chastises Bellachek Temple for using his power and money to make more power and money on the backs of people that have no power and money. Bellachek points out that Commodore 64 really isn't any different except that he's young and idealistic, and youthful idealism only sees what it wants to see.

Speaking of young people, I saw a Tumblr post awhile back about some youngster saying that the young person's mother was born in 1969 and she liked to append "69" to the end of her user names online. And the youth believed it was the kid's job to point out to the mom that she can't be doing that. Kid, believe me, she knew what she was doing. She was probably fucking proud that her year of birth was a fantastic sex act. Because "old" people aren't as ignorant as you might like to think. When teenagers lie to their parents and fool them, they sometimes think they're able to fool all adults. No, no. You know why your parents believe you actually fell asleep on the couch at your date's house as opposed to all the dick sucking and vagina licking that was going on? Because parents are in denial and they'd rather believe the lie than to imagine their kid having sex. You tell that same story to your uncle and he's just going to wink and smile. Seriously, what would you rather imagine if your parents went out on a date and immediately headed into the bedroom when they got home? "Boy, they must sure be tuckered out!" Or are you going to picture the fuckfest that is happening up there? Yeah, denial is better, right?

Of course, on the other side of things and just as annoying, are when young people are portrayed as ignorant of anything that happened before the nineties. Like that Jack in the Box commercial where the ditzy social media employee thinks watches were invented back in the olden days of the eighties. Age really has nothing to do with knowledge. Obviously the longer you've been around, the more you've probably accumulated. But the accumulation of knowledge takes effort or, at least, intense curiosity. But you can imagine how tiresome it is to meet someone over forty that hasn't bothered to retain anything and how intensely interesting a younger person can appear when they've been paying attention to more than just their immediate social group's activities. When you're sixteen, it's hard to think of your parent as a sixteen year old. But you just need to remember that a person is always, at all times, every age they've ever been. Older folks don't just relate to sixteen year olds. They actively remember themselves at sixteen; they still feel themselves at sixteen and what it was like and the person they were. They're still that person mixed with the twenty five year old and the thirty six year old and the eight year old. You don't just lose the feelings of your first crush long after your third divorce. That feeling can still be as intense as ever.

And I fucking don't know why Commodore 64's speech to Bellachek Temple set me off on that diversion. I suppose I needed something more to talk about than the Green Team fighting Icicle in space and crash landing in Chicago to tell the man that built their Super Hero Disks that he's an asshole.

Temple decides to have his men kill Commodore 64 but Cecilia jumps in the way and takes all the gunfire in her back. But she already regrew her arm, so I think she'll be okay regrowing all the other parts that were just shot off. Like her liver and her left lung. J.P. flips the fuck out and turns into a werewolf.

Well, I guess the disks do different things to different people!

The Green Team #6 Rating: +1 Ranking simply for the introduction of Bellachek Temple. Long after The Green Team is gone, I'm guessing this guy will find work harassing other comic book heroes.
