Doc Savage? Vandal Savage? Chef Savage?
The first page shows a couple of college students being attacked by some weird black inky thing jumping out of a tree. Perhaps it's not black or inky at all and it was just in the shadows. Or maybe it's simply very hairy. I don't know! But one of these students was the daughter of Senator Darrow and she disappeared. Since she's a senator's daughter, the FBI are all over the case!
The FBI Agent they're sending in is Agent Sage. Since the cover told me this story is about Savage and a father and a daughter, I'm going to make a tiny leap and guess this is Savage's daughter with a slight change to her name by removing a "v" and an "a". Or an "a" and a "v"!
Agent Sage is being sent to Belle Reve to interview Savage because he isn't exactly cooperating with other Agents.
Did these agents just assume that the locked up serial killer in their fictional world would act like the locked up serial killer in The Silence of the Lambs fictional world? Oh wait! He is! He's a big jerk to everyone except the one person he actually wants to speak with: Agent Starling! I mean, Agent Sage!
These five panels actually sum up the first eight pages pretty decently. Maybe this is how it should have started!
After sparring verbally for a bit, Savage brings up the escaped inmate. Why? Well, because he's currently in the room waiting for a chance to escape!
Red Death might have had a better chance at escaping by joining Task Force X.
DC Universe Presents #9: Savage Rating: No change. I didn't have much to comment on this comic since it's basically just Silence of the Lambs but Hannibal is an Immortal madman. Oh, and the Swan Killer has a single panel dedicated to him/her/it (probably her) but it only shows the killer's really long fingernails and a shadow with a head that looks like the hair on Vandal's head.
