Futures End: Batwing #1

Five years ago, the world as we know it ceased to be. Luckily, the world as we know it from The Road Warrior came into being. Many people were prepared for this turn of events. Too bad those people were geeks and nerds without any real survival skills. Tragically, they were all rape-murdered by corporate CEOs who, it turned out, were the biggest sociopaths on the planet. Some nerds and geeks survived longer than others due to their proficiency at oral sex. But even these desperate, shameless nerds could not last for long. Eee! Tess Ate Chai Tea gave and gave and gave but eventually, as he knew deep down would happen, he used a little too much teeth. He was thrown into Lightning Dome, a more terrifying version of Thunder Dome, where twenty combatants entered and nineteen left. Mostly because the nineteen were working together to fightfuck the lone other. Eee! Tess Ate Chai Tea lasted thirteen minutes, a good showing but not good enough to be remembered for more than the long weekend.

As it turned out, some of the most depraved and richest CEOs were the biggest fans of Eee! Tess Ate Chai Tea. When the updates stopped (for, you see, DC Comics continued to publish during these post-apocalyptic times although their market share was now worse than Dynamite. In their defense, Gail Simone was being forced to write all of the titles deep within Dynamite headquarters, and all of the titles featured naked lesbians as every character), the CEOs grew desperate for the only written entertainment they could stomach. A new Tess was needed. And who better to take over the job than the monster that delivered the death thrust to Tess, Goggles McDeathhurt.

And now, five years later, Goggles McDeathhurt and Clorox Cola Theater Present: HOLY FUCK! Don't Put That There Chai Tea!

Welcome back, Scanners! Sumfin being on me minds da las' few minutes were dis fing The Prof called "predictive programming." Da Prof were an Apeist, so he didna cottontop ta anyfing superior-natural or spirychal. But dat didna mean Prof didna luff hisself somma dat fringe sciencing. He tells me true wunst, "Media and popular culture can be seen as a kind of spell being chanted over and over again across the whole of the world. Even if one, such as myself (and, you as well, I presume, Em), do not believe in magic, we must pay close attention to the information that constantly bombards the lesser thinking individuals in our midst. One cannot know how the unimaginative beasts will react when they are turned on to ideas and events far beyond their comprehension. Ofttimes, the lesser man (and woman, of course. I trust we are all (save maybe Little Tokyo) fine with my use of the term "man" as one of ambiguous gender merely representing our entirety of a species without judgment or implied erasure. Surely, the term "man" is lesser than the term "woman" being that "woman" is always precise and specific, whereas "man" can never be completely free of inclusion) will only know that he (or she. Once again, the former argument fits the pronouns as it fits the previous nouns) has an undying rage within him born of God only knows what ("God," as always, being defined simply as the unknown forces that seem to rally against a person that knows little of free will and self-fulfillment) and will be frozen in inaction. It is only when these unimaginative beasts see an event portrayed through some form of media in the popular culture that inspiration strikes them and they act out the event they mindlessly incorporated into their psyche and their rage. Other mindless automatons, the ones not filled with quite as much rage as the one that acted out, notice, in a stunning display of intellectual mimicry, that the perpetrated violence or chaos or destruction was incredibly similar to some overly exciting current piece of pop cultural jetsam (I use the term "jetsam" with particular care here). Thus the responsibility for the violence drops from the perpetrator and becomes the sole property of the artists that put the idea into the zeitgeist. Carrying this idea further, some believe that the government now uses the popular culture to prepare the masses for horrendous events that they themselves will author. They foreshadow the event with a proper amount of omniscient narration so that the populace sees the event not as reality but as just another twist in the action movie forever playing on their favorite media player. I must say, I find the conspiratorial idea behind predictive programming as juvenile as giggling over a fart joke. It is a waste of time and energy. People are, for the most part, idiots. They think they are thinking when, all too often, they are merely parroting. Believing that the government needs to prepare the mindless zombies for their catastrophic acts against their own subjects is believing that people are far more capable of knowing when they're being lied to in the first place. I assure you, they are not. A lie is the easiest thing to tell as long as you prepare it carefully with a pinch of the listener's own prejudices. People want to be deceived. It's just that simple."

Old Goggs remembers mos' what The Prof said, words for words, acause The Prof allatime fucking told da same stories upover and upover! Fuckity merde, that guy never shut his Goddessdamned mouf. Some sadness in eatin' da ol' guy but also some fuckity fuck laughs too. Batwing #34

This is the end! The end of a very depressing story!

How is it that we live in a society where city planners have planted trees that release a smell like human semen and nobody fucking talks about it?! It's such a pleasant experience to step out into the warm sun and feel a gentle breeze blow across your face. Rather, it would be if that breeze wasn't carrying loads of tree jizz! Nobody wants to wind up with a tree bukake first thing when they leave the house.

Imagine a young, innocent girl who spent every summer on her beloved grandparents' farm. Let's pretend, since this is a fictional story, that the grandparents had planted these Semen Trees all over their property. The young girl grew to associate that smell with joy and relaxation and the love of her two favorite people. But remember that this is a fictional story and fictional stories never remain happy and joyful for long because, as your 9th Grade English teacher pointed out, conflict is the root of all stories! Or something. I forget. My 9th Grade English was a moronic asshole. So one summer, the young girl's grandparents were suddenly killed in a fiery explosion during a late night tractor drag racing accident. Heartbroken, distraught, and on the brink of despair, the young girl, on the day after the funeral, took one long, last whiff of her cherished childhood and moved to the city to live with some mice.

Years later, the young girl was not quite as young as she once had been. She was now a young woman. She's in high school and she's met a boy that she thinks she might love. She's not sure what love is but she knows that when she looks at him, she feels like everything on her inside wants to be on the outside. She flirts with him, they become friends, they become more than friends. Did that sentence need more than commas? Semicolons, maybe? Ellipses? Anyway, one Saturday morning while her mice are out, she finds herself alone in her bedroom with this boy. No, not a boy. A near-man-boy. She has never in her life seen an erect penis and it takes her by surprise. She is giddy and happy and full of womanly joy. The near-man-boy has never had his penis touched by a woman, so when this young woman gets low to inspect him closely, perhaps to smell him and take in his essence, her fingers brush up against him and he explodes in premature ecstasy! The young woman gasps, surprised but happy. She cocks her head back in a raucous laugh of pure and unadulterated mirth. And then the smell hits her. She's transported back to the farm. Back to when she was young and sweet and innocent and happy and not forced to live with mice in the city. And, of course, she remembers the terrible tragedy that brought her previous life to a screeching halt. She falls, screaming and crying. The boy panics! Did he get her in the eye? What do you do? Would hydrogen peroxide help?! He pulls up his underwear in a slimy, smelly smear of panic and kneels beside her. But she's not screaming anymore. She's just staring, helplessly. Listlessly. Something in her is gone, driven away by the shock of that smell. Her life is over yet again. The next, and last, phase of her life is spent in a mental ward, comatose and unmoving. All because we live in a fucking society that allows trees that smell like human semen to infest our living spaces!

Was that a good morality tale? Or parable? Or fable? Or cautionary tale? One of those! Or something else. Anyway, I bet it's better than Batwing!

Do something truly disgusting so that DC cancels your comic book?

Because Lucas Fox is crappy at being Batwing and his entire world has turned into pubic hair covered lollipops, he decides to not be Batwing for a bit. First off on his non-Batwing day is to have an uncomfortable conversation with his mother. Then he's going to a planetarium with his little sister. Not the one that stares into the distance and drools; the one that outwitted the Rat Catcher and still has to sit in a car-seat.

Luke's little sister is supposed to be really smart. But she isn't! Because she believes that if a good guy kills a monster, that makes the good guy a monster too! Pshaw! Blanket statements like that are for average to stupid people! You'd have to judge every individual situation in which a good guy kills a monster to determine if the good guy acted like a monster or not! Some people might think Batman is a monster for not killing The Joker because he knows The Joker will invariably kill more innocent people. What kind of person allows that to happen? Some people might think Superman is a monster like how people think that when they're being written by Scott Lobdell. Also maybe when he really is a monster because he's infected by Doomsday Herpes. Some people might think The Wolfman is a monster because he's a monster. But he's really just a guy suffering from a serious disease which produces symptoms only two to three days a month. It's all relative! Oh yeah! My relatives are monsters, no argument.

"Eww! Don't make accurate observations!" Shut up, Tiff! Your brother is just being scientific!

The Hot Scientist whose name I didn't bother to learn gets Tiff's phone number because she wants to give Tiff an internship. In reality, I'm sure she just wants the number so she can call Luke later because she's so turned on by his "hot" compliment.

On the way home, more tragedy befalls Batwing because this comic book doesn't remember that it's a "comic" book! He and Tiff get hit by an armored car and their car rolls. Everybody is okay although the series is ending so Jimmy and Justin could have just killed them and left the last few pages blank. Or maybe made the last few pages out of tissues so people could dry their eyes and blow their noses after bursting into tears. Although you'd have to have some kind of emotional attachment to these characters to be saddened by their deaths. So maybe the tissue would just be used by juvenile men masturbating to the Hot Scientist after they were done reading the book.

I guess the story about Gorgeous George isn't going to be finished because the comic book was cancelled. He'll just have to get his justice desserts in the pages of Batman, poor guy.

Um, and that's pretty much it. Oh, sure. Batwing saves some family from the guys that hijacked the armored car after doing some detective work even though he mentioned earlier that he's not detective. But he's happy that he saved some people and that's the simple purpose of his life. Or something. Ugh. These last few pages shouldn't have been tissues at all. They should have been barf bags.

Batwing #34 Rating: -1 Ranking. This comic book ended its life the way it lived it: mediocrely. Mediocreally? Mediocratically? Whatever. It was boring and anti-climactic which was a disappointment since the last issue with Gorgeous George was actually interesting. I guess Batwing still gets a Futures End issue but after that, I don't want to see this comic on the shelves until it gets seriously retooled. Saving people isn't a good enough reason for Batwing to exist. Batman is already saving people. I think. Okay, maybe Batman is too busy being angry. Eh, I'm sure somebody in Gotham is saving people. Batwing is just redundant. And boring!

Batman Eternal #17

Is this the real cover or a 75th Anniversary of Batman cover?!

This issue begins three years ago because last issue ended with a resounding "Who the fuck is Deacon Blackfire?" from the readers. Well, this comic book is here to tell you who Deacon Blackfire is! Or who he was three years ago before he was sent to hell!

You know how religious figures always have to correct you when you call them by the wrong name? "Please, you don't have to call me Father. I'm not Catholic, you know." No, I didn't know that! I don't know anything about your five billion different Christian denominations with their quadzillion rules that nobody can remember. Hell, most Catholic priests can't even remember the rule about not diddling kids and I'm fairly certain that's like the second or third main rule! I think it goes "Don't have sex with women" and then "Hey, smarty pants. Don't have sex with kids either!" Those are like rules one and two because guys and their penises have a really special relationship. The guy tries to go about his life and the penis constantly interferes with every fucking thing he does all day long.

Penis: "Hey! Hey! Forget going to the bank! Did you see that woman bending over in the light summer dress? Come on! I know you saw that! Let's go see if she'll be amenable to fucking!"
Guy: "Calm down. I don't even know her! I've got better shit to do than act like a fucking creep when she's just trying to go about her day."
Penis: "Naw! She'd be into it! Just show me to her. She won't be able to resist!"
Guy: "You're crazy! And would you knock it off! I'm wearing boxers and slacks! People are going to notice you!"
Penis: "Oh yeah they will! And I'm only half-cocked! Get it? I'm huge! And punny!"
Guy: *Goes into nearest public restroom to masturbate so that his penis will leave him alone for three or four hours*

That's a pretty accurate portrayal of the daily life of every man, ladies! Don't believe any man that says it's not. That's just their penis lying to you! Any time you're in public, you're never further than thirty feet from at least one guy masturbating. It's a fact! They're fucking disgusting!

What the hell was I talking about? Who typed all that stuff? Why is their semen all over my keyboard?! PEEEEEEEENNNNIIIIIIIS!

That should probably be a sitcom. "I Love Penis!" I'd watch it.

How are all those people clapping without their left arms?!

Deacon Blackfire's soul has transmigrated into the body of Maxie Zeus through some kind of ritual shenanigans performed by The Joker's Daughter. Arkham has just become one great big mystic mess and The Spectre still continues to avoid entering the body of Jim Corrigan. I don't blame The Spectre at all. Jim is palling around with Batwing and what DC Character in their right mind wants to appear in a Batwing comic book? Perhaps when he learns this is a Batman weekly, he'll jump right into Corrigan and save the day.

I hate being so critical of Batwing since it's the only DC comic book left with a black lead (I suppose Green Lantern Corps could make an argument for having a black lead as well. But I can't consider John Stewart a solid lead on that book when DC wanted to kill him off in it!), but it's just been so boring and depressing lately! The last issue was actually pretty good! But that always seems to happen with cancelled titles. Too little too late.

Also, have we gone from referring to African Americans as "black" to "urban"? I didn't get the memo but it seems like that's becoming a fairly popular term. Does that mean I should begin referring to myself as "half-suburban, half-barrio"? Are haughty liberals going to start saying things like, "I don't see neighborhoods"?

Meanwhile in Tokyo, two of my favorite new characters are becoming fast friends!

Where is Harper going to post that picture? Is this her "Super Hero" phone with all of her secret super hero identity social media accounts? I suppose it doesn't matter since Red Robin insists on shouting her real name every few minutes.

Harper shocks the monkey and now I can't get the song out of my head. She threatens to reprogram it if Doctor Alexandrov refuses to help them defeat the nanobots infecting the children of Gotham City.

He just said her name right in front of you, you idiot!

When was the last time Batman was actually in this comic book? Can I sue DC Comics for fraud?

Well, three years ago, he makes an appearance in this comic book! I think I still have a case seeing as how Batman is only appearing in a flashback where he's being held captive by Deacon Blackfire. He's been chained in the Deacon's basement for seven days and seven nights consuming only the drugged wafers and partaking of only the drugged water. Deacon Blackfire also has other people he's plucked from his flock who get to be chained and ministrated upon, hallelujah!

I don't know what the ministrations are but I'm sure they're kinky!

Oh Deacon! You're so close to figuring it out! If only you'd unmasked him, you'd realize that his plan isn't to save everybody! His plan is to make a shitload of money by gentrifying, gentrifying, gentrifying!

Batman does that thing he does where he defeats the bad guy. You know that thing? The thing he always does even when the odds seem stacked against him! He even has a momentary throwback to his first story when a man died right in front him by falling into a vat of acid and he just kind of shrugged his shoulders. This time, Deacon Blackfire gets beaten to death by his "followers" while Batman stands there saying, "I'd help out but I've got these chains!" Then he holds up his chained together hands, frowns slightly, and sits down to watch the spectacle while smoking his pipe.

Actually, I don't know if Deacon Blackfire died at this moment or not. Probably not! I think standing by and watching someone get beaten to death is just over the line in Batman's Rules for Technically Not Killing People Although, Really, Come On!

Back in the present, Deacon Blackfire's followers all transform into Men-Bats and he sends them to recruit more followers.

Jesus Christ! More Men-Bats?! Haven't we had enough of them? I suppose these are less Men-Bats and more Vampire-Men-Bats. And by "recruiting more followers," they're actually going to go make more vampires. And meanwhile, The Spectre continues to refuse to materialize.

Batman Eternal #17 Rating: +1 Ranking. I was skeptical about a weekly Batman comic book but color me credulous! Or something. I'm enjoying this series a lot more than Futures End which is the weekly I thought I would really like. Although I think I'll super really like Multiversity! Unless they screw it up in the same way they're screwing up Futures End by limiting the awesome and crazy shit they can do because they seem to like boring and slow moving bullshit as opposed to lots of death and destruction and sex with decapitated monkeys and anal fissures that become sentient and nuclear farts and Superman masturbating to defeat an invading alien fleet with his supersonic Kryptonian ejaculate! Now that's a comic book!

Batman Eternal #16

Batman has never looked gayer. Not that there's anything non-Biblically wrong with that!

I was trying to keep up my feud with Comicsverse but now Firefox doesn't even want to visit the site because "comicsverse.com uses an invalid security certificate." It looks like they've boobytrapped their evil lair! I'm not going to spy on them if it means I'm risking some kind of internet chlamydia! How am I supposed to listen to their mediocre comic book video reviews now?! You win this time, Comicsverse! Also, you should probably fix your fucking site, you dunderheads.

At the end of last week's episode, Jim Corrigan had been confronted by Mister Bygone in the maze of concrete halls beneath Arkham Asylum. Surprisingly, this week's episode picks up exactly where last week's left off!

Oh not this crap again! Hospital schmospital! Nobody cares about the recidivism rate of inmates at Arkham anymore! It's really just a rubbish bin for nogoodniks now!

Arkham Asylum has lately been troubled by scary spirits and bad mojo. They might need a Wiccan Exorcist Native American Shaman Leprechaun to bless this mess and sort it the fuck out. Even crazy people don't want to have to look at this Mister Bygone and his infected arterial system, especially just after lunch.

What do you suppose they serve for lunch at Arkham? Tater tots and fish sticks? Is that too conventional? I should probably think outside the box! I bet Arkham serves the death of dreams and the rape of hope! But only on Wednesdays. On Thursdays it's Sloppy Joe.

Upstairs in Arkham, away from the piles of left arms and the smell of one particular rotting face, Professor Pyg is being checked into his cell.

Whoops. Today's lunch must be pork chops and apple sauce.

Remember in elementary school, you'd get green sheets (or some color xeroxed thing) that were like little newspapers with not really important facts about things happening on campus? And they always published the school lunch menu for the upcoming week? Boy, that was depressing! Having to see before hand the awful bullshit they were going to try to force down your gullet each and every day. Some kids liked to read the menu so they could prepare themselves for the gastronomical tortures about to be inflicted upon them day after day. But not me! They weren't going to kill my spirit that easily! I allowed myself to dream of delicious foods that would be plated in front of me for twenty three hours of every day! Only during lunch hour would I let them win! They couldn't have the rest of me as easily as printing a daily menu forecasting horrendous evil!

Who am I kidding? I never ate school lunches! I always brought my own in my awesome cool Battlestar Galactica lunchbox! Which I still have!

I don't actually remember the Cylons being this happy? Did they often go on picnics with whatshisname and his cyber dog?

Before I owned this lunchbox, I used a Rescuers lunchbox. And before that, it was a Wonderful World of Disney lunchbox. After the Battlestar Galactica lunchbox, it was brown paper bags until high school when I gave up eating lunch in preference of sitting around staring at girls I had huge crushes on. Actually, beginning in tenth grade, my school lunch was usually one Mr. Goodbar and one game of Gunsmoke down at the bowling alley near the school. Nutritious!

Over in Tokyo, some bad shit goes down! But the good part about the bad shit is that it makes me love Harper Row a little bit!

It's like my heart just grew two sizes this day!

I was almost really crude and said my penis grew two sizes this day. But I didn't mean I loved Harper in that way! I meant I loved her for her sassy mouth! I felt the same kind of pride you feel when the sibling that you constantly argue with suddenly mouths off to some grown up being an asshole to them. It's like you helped train your sibling for that day with all the bickering and smarting off at each other!

Red Robin and Harper take care of the Tokyo Tentacles before they can find their way into some protesting orifices. I have to say, when I was in Tokyo, there were far less rapist tentacles than I thought there would be. There was, however, a hell of a lot more Pachinko than I'd ever dreamed! Anyway, Harper and Red Robin have survived the test and now they get to meet the man and the cybernetic monkey behind it all!

This monkey has only been in about six total panels in The New 52 so far but he's quickly demanding his own monthly comic book! At least in my eyes.

So back in Arkham, Jim Corrigan punches Mister Bygone and knocks him out which is a bit anti-climactic if Mister Bygone was the Byguy behind it all! I suppose he isn't because later Batwing escapes the clutches of The Joker's Daughter as she tells him she rules the place. I don't really believe her though. At the very least, she seems to be the High Priestess of the Cult of the Left Arm. She's also the keeper of the Maxie Zeus.

I particularly like her goat.se-esque decorating motif.

I'm assuming by the get-up and the name that this is Maxie Zeus even if it's a bit of a reinterpretation of him. At least from when I last read a story with him in it. He may have already been reinterpreted sometime in the last decade before The New 52.

Batwing defeats Maxie Zeus which is what he wasn't supposed to do because now Maxie is prepared to be vesselized by the Messiah! I don't know what that means. I don't know what any of this means! The Arkham Staff have all had their left arms cut off or have had their bodies turned into wraith housing. A doctor that Batwing stumbles upon says it's been this way for months now. Who is overseeing Arkham Asylum?! Shouldn't Batman check in every other day to make sure things are running smoothly? I think after Batwing and The Spectre finish their investigation, Arkham needs to be shut down for good. Board the place up and throw away the hammer! Burn it down! Cover it in an impenetrable plexiglass dome and fill it with concrete! It's a curse on Gotham!

Or better yet! Somebody should go back in time and kill Amadeus Arkham before he gets the stupid idea to "help" crazy assholes! Except maybe that's what happened! Maybe the time traveler tasked with the assassination arrived back in time confused, disoriented, and a little bit insane. That's why he winds up killing Amadeus's mother which gives Amadeus the idea to start the Asylum with the time traveler as his first patient! Don't you dare fucking steal my story idea, DC Comics and Grant Morrison!

Batwing runs into Jim Corrigan again and he almost reveals who is behind it all. Except he's interrupted by the person that's behind it all: the freshly returned from Hell soul of Deacon Blackfire! Oh. Hey! All this time I've been wondering who has been behind this crazy shit at Arkham and Snyder and Tynion had already told me in like Issue #1. I should probably pay better attention to what I'm reading instead of letting my mind wander as I think about Batman going down on Commissioner Gordon, or imagining what Warden Agatha Zorbatos does in her office with the door locked and her pants around her ankles.

I actually don't know anything about this Deacon Blackfire. Is he new? Was he created during The Long Hiatus when I wasn't reading comic books? Or was he invented by Alan Grant during his Shadow of the Bat run? I think those are the only possibilities.

Batman Eternal #16 Rating: +1 Ranking. I should really make these end statements worth reading so I can post them as stand alone mini-reviews for people with short attention spans and the inability to enjoy anything worth taking the time to enjoy. Maybe pepper them with curse words to really draw the attention of the filthy, ignorant masses. Then I can finish up with a truly insightful comment about the story which will prove to everybody that I deserve the title of Master Comic Book Reader! I should do all of that stuff but I probably won't because it's more work than just closing my review with some stupid statement about how odd it is that the candy Sixlets only has five colors.

Batman Eternal #15

The center bar of my comic slot machine seems to have just missed the jackpot. Dang it.

Previously in Batman Eternal, nobody has mentioned why the comic book is named Batman Eternal. Now on with the story....

Batwing and The Spectre are making their way into Arkham Asylum. The Spectre is probably pouting because he's supposedly God's Wrath but he's been fairly useless since Jesus came around and pointed out that love was better. Unless he just pointed out that love and hate don't matter at all since everybody should only be concerned with the afterlife. I think that was his main message. Why wasn't the New Testament just a few sentences: "Do whatever you want. Pretend you're remorseful. Repeat after me: I accept Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. Oh, and don't forget to tithe!"

Batwing is probably pouting because he's just plain useless.

Who said an Irishman can't know Italian? Batwing needs to go fishing with his grandfather.

My Italian is a little bit rusty but I'll try my best to translate it: "Yo! Guido! Your mother, she worka in dis crazy place? Alla da time? 'Ey!" Hmm, maybe I need to book a fishing trip with my grandfather as well.

I apparently also think that the period translates to a question mark from Italian to English.

Batwing and The Spectre find Arkham trashed, the convicts missing, and the guards killed or missing. That just means it's Wednesday.

As he flies into Tokyo, Red Robin finally lets Harper Row know that he knows that she's aboard the Drakeplane. He probably should think up a new name for his plane before it gives his secret identity away.

Is Tim hitting on Harper? I love the Stress Position! Although I couldn't last nine hours. I mean, of course I could! But who would want to?! I have things to do that don't involve doing it all of the time, constantly and well!

Once they land, Harper Row dons a mask and invites herself to be Red Robin's sidekick. But her mask is basically The Grifter's mask! What is wrong with her?! I thought she was smart! Is she a fan of Grifter? I'm so disappointed in Harper right now. Grifter is awful! Just in case anybody skips this paragraph because it's too long and they're just skimming for tales of my unbridled sexual unbridledness, I'll say that again in a new paragraph.

Grifter is awful!

Back in Arkham Asylum, Batwing's systems discover that the air is full of human spinal fluid. That's not good, right? That's how the next Silent Hill game can differentiate itself from the rest of the horror genre. Come with an adapter that fits into the nose and squirts a fine mist of various human bodily fluids into your nostrils as you play. The Spectre (who I should probably be calling Jim since he's pretending to be human right now. But when have I ever been clear and concise and honest?) notices a magic spell on the wall in The Riddler's old cell and an upside down waterfall of blood in The Scarecrow's cell. Batwing comes up with a good idea though! Call Batman!

Oh bull poop! Batman is never busy! He's capable of guest starring in every comic book, every month, if he wanted to. If he doesn't show up to help, he's got a reason. I think his reason this time is that he just doesn't like working with Luke Fox. Or he hates the Goddamned Irish. One of those.

I just experienced a moment of déjà vu when I typed "the Goddamned Irish." That's either cool because déjà vu is always an interesting experience or it's disturbing because I type "the Goddamned Irish" way too much!

Batwing and Jim discover The Scarecrow being used as a magic blood pylon while he mutters some Niggaz Wit Attitudes song. Something about dying in a fire while on venom or something. Maybe it's just magic words. Mostly it doesn't matter because it's at this moment that ghosts attack Jim and Luke, Jim points out he knows who's behind this all (but he doesn't say. They never say. It would take one second to say. Does he say? No. He doesn't), and then Jim tries his best not to become the Wrath of God for some reason. Probably for the same reason Jason Blood hates to become Etrigan. Because he winds up sitting around in Hell for unknown amounts of time. Although, Jim would get to sit around Heaven, right? Maybe he hates harp music and overly nice angels that just want to make him feel at home.

Sorry, Batwing. The Wrath of God works in mysterious ways.

Batwing winds up face to, um, face? with The Joker's Daughter while Jim Corrigan meets the man behind it all: Mister Bygone!

Wait. Who?

Later there's a scene where Batman finally accepts Jason Bard's handshake. I guess that means he accepts Batman's way of catching criminals which means no killing. Sure, you can beat them within inches of death and, sure, occasionally the doctors lose one of them to their injuries later at the hospital. But that's an acceptable loss and can be attributed to medical error. You never see Penny-One lose a patient.

And later still, Batgirl discovers that she's not only working with Red Hood (unwillingly!), but now she has to work with Batwoman as well! Although she was super excited to work with Batwoman way back in Batgirl Issue Number Older Issue. I guess she's over the excitement of meeting a hot celebrity.

Batman Eternal #15 Rating: No change. I sure wish the person behind all the magic under Arkham had been somebody I recognized! Although then I would have been disappointed and ranted about how the chump couldn't have pulled off everything the person was pulling off. I just can't be happy with anything! I do hope he makes Jim Corrigan suck his dick though. No wait! I don't hope that at all because that's mean! Although I'm hoping it about fictional characters that can't actually undergo the trauma of the horrible things that happen to them. So I've changed my mind! I hope Mister Bygone does pull out his cock and drag it across Jim's cheek. But only that! That's acceptable, right? If it isn't, pretend I didn't hope for that and continue to respect me and not feel disappointed in me at all, okay dad? I mean readers!

Batwing #33

Lucas Fox discovers David Zavimbe's stash of Dexatrim.

Batwing was slightly interesting for a little bit early on when Judd Winick was writing it. It was probably because he hilariously appended "again" to every outrageous sentence he could think to have David say. "I've gotten my pubes stuck in the bat rocket mechanism! Again!" "A child butcher just chopped off my dog's head! Again!" "The citizens of the Democratic Republic of Congo have been lied to and manipulated by a fascist monster! Again!" The comic didn't last long at slightly interesting and quickly became simply boring for a time. But simply boring was far better than horribly depressing which is what's happened lately with Lucius Fox's family falling apart! Hopefully this will be a one-shot comedic, drug-fueled romp through Gotham so we can forget about Luke's sister's current condition.

Again!

Okay, so it seems to be starting off a little heavy with a disfigured ex-guard telling the story about the most frightening prisoner to ever grace the cells in Blackgate Prison. But isn't that what's keeping the mood light? The tone is too heavy! The situation utterly ridiculous! It's the perfect set-up for a convoluted urban legend to be told. The guard's eyes probably aren't even missing! He probably went to an elementary school carnival earlier in the day to stalk young children and decided to get his face painted. He'll probably end the story by standing up and pulling down the zipper on his fly where he's hidden a half-eaten churro from the fair and he'll yell, "Gruesome George took my penis! He took ALL the penises!"

The story is about a guy named George that was abused by his father and took to fighting because that was how he had earned love from his father. He would saunter around Gotham busting heads and saying, "Daddy! Daddy! Look at me! Your boy! Your champ!" Then he'd saunter around Blackgate's showers going, "Daddy! Daddy! Just look at old Georgie Peorgie! Kickin' ass and makin' girls cry!" Later he sauntered about Gotham Police Headquarters beating cops in the face saying, "Daddy! Daddy! Ain't no man in Gotham tough enough for little old Georgy!" And finally, he didn't saunter around Arkham at all, not saying, "Daddy! Daddy! What the fuck happened? Where am I? Why is there nobody to fight?" He didn't saunter because he was in a straight jacket and he didn't speak because he was fucked up on perconuts and diazazenes! But then he saw Batman on the television and thought, "Daddy! Daddy! I'll take out Batman and you'll finally love me!"

And that's where the homeless guy's story ends and Batwing's story begins. Darn. I was really hoping for the churro ending.

Jesus, Batwing's mom! You're bringing down the whole vibe! Stop making me think about birthday cake that will go unnoticed and uneaten!

I keep wanting to call Tam "braindead" but then I think I'm going to offend everybody and everyone will jump down my throat! "She's not braindead! She's negatively sentient!" "She's currently abstract!" "Tam's taking some intellectual downtime!" It's not that I'm against using sensitive terminology for whoever wants their terminology to be sensitive, it's just that I don't really see a whole lot of use in it. The problem is words aren't inherently negative until a culture begins using them in a negative way. They're simply neutral descriptors to communicate a concept from one person to another. But the commonly accepted neutral descriptor will eventually, over time, begin to be used negatively by certain people to describe people that possess none of the actual qualities being communicated by the neutral descriptors! Over time, the neutral descriptor will have lost all function as a neutral descriptor and tend mostly to be used as an insult. Which means a new neutral descriptor will have to be coined. Of course, people will eventually use the new neutral descriptor in negative ways and sully the neutrality of it as well. So a new word will need to be coined! And so on, and so forth. Now, I don't actually think anybody would be offended if you call somebody that has no brain activity "braindead." But since I often describe people in fraternities as "braindead," I could very well be wrong! Maybe I should just say Tam isn't feeling very well and just leave it at that.

Luke pisses off his mother and father while on the phone with them because he's against his sister Tam not experiencing her party which all her friends will be at and he's decided God sucks so he isn't going to church anymore and he doesn't have a job and isn't enrolled in school. So his mother and father are really fucking disappointed with him. Again!

My literary motif sense is tingling!

I was just making up all of that daddy stuff because it kind of fits and every other character in the DC Universe has daddy issues, so why not Gruesome George. But now I see why Gruesome George is being spotlighted! Because he's trying to attract the love of his daddy by dressing up as a bat and fighting crime! Does that sound like anybody else in this comic book? No, not Tam, you sadistic assholes! Come on, you can guess? Think about who else has been in the comic book so far? Think about whose name is on the cover? That's it! That's it exactly! Batwing! You're right!

Swiper no swiping! Swiper no swiping! Swiper no swiping!

He's got a fucking point, Batwing. Who gets to say who's allowed in the vigilante club?

Looks like Gruesome George admired Batman not because he wanted to kick his ass but because he realized Batman gets to kick ass every night and stay out of jail at the same time! Is that why Gruesome George needs to be arrested? Because he enjoys what he's doing a little too much? We all know Batman loves it as well! Even if Batman doesn't actually love breaking bones, you know he gets rock hard erections from getting violent criminals off the streets. Gruesome George is basically doing the same thing! I don't think he's any less harmful than the other Gotham City Transit vagrants.

Batwing knocks out Gruesome George and calls the police and emergency medical technicians. He then skedaddles back home to get ready for Tam's birthday tomorrow. I hope he doesn't forget the cake! Again!

After Batwing leaves, the police and EMTs meet Gruesome George's churro eating buddies. And you know what I mean by "churro," right?!

As if Gotham doesn't have enough trouble, now it has to deal with demon goat lizard men?

Batwing #33 Rating: +2 Ranking. Why does this always happen? Whenever DC has cancelled a comic book that I'm not really into, it always picks up and becomes thoroughly enjoyable in its final story arc! Perhaps it frees up the writers to do stories they normally wouldn't feel comfortable doing if the character had to continue on to more adventures. Perhaps it's just freeing because the editors walk away early to work on more pressing projects. Maybe it's just the writers are able to fully concentrate on the story being told and aren't worried about subplots and continuing drama between minor characters. I have no idea! But I finally enjoyed an issue of Batwing! Again!

Batwing #32

Due to my current disinterest in Batwing and the fact that this story has become way too depressing, this commentary will be preempted by an encore presentation of a previous commentary. Please enjoy this look into the past. If you're interested in a few thoughts about Batwing #32, stay tuned to the end of the broadcast where I'll give a brief synopsis. And now, Vandal Savage!

Flashback! See little Kass Savage run! Run Kass Run! Learn how to run well, Kass! Run very fast! Run home to Mommy and Daddy! Oh! Here is mommy! Mommy is sad! But where is Daddy? Daddy, come out! Come out Daddy! Mommy says Daddy killed them all! All of them were killed by Daddy! Bye bye, childhood! Bye bye!

The Present! See Kass fly on a helicopter. Fly Kass Fly! Kass has found her daddy. Where were you hiding, Daddy? Kass asks Daddy about Mommy. Daddy says he doesn't think about Mommy anymore. Kass is angry. Kass is disappointed. Daddy says Kass should get over it. Get over it, Kass. Get over it. Daddy is helping Kass now. Isn't that enough?

Elsewhere! See the Swan? Isn't The Swan beautiful? Oh! And the Angel! The Angel is with the Swan! What are they up to? They are playing a game! Play, Swan, Play! Play, Angel, Play!

The Scene of the Crime! Look, Daddy, Look! This is where it happened, Daddy! Look down, Daddy, not up! Look down at the ground! Daddy looks up. Daddy doesn't need to look at the ground! The stars are a map, says Daddy. The stars will lead you to the Swan, Kass. See the stars twinkle, Kass? Twinkle, stars, twinkle.

Watch Daddy use a sextant. Line up the stars, Daddy! Line them up! Daddy was a lawyer, not a sailor! How does Daddy know how to use a sextant? See Daddy find dead stars in the sky! Kass looks. Kass does not see the dead stars. How does Daddy see dead stars? Are you immortal, Daddy?

Daddy sees the path. Daddy knows where the Swan plays his games. Daddy leads Kass to the Swan's clubhouse. See the clubhouse! It has been desanctified! Can you say desanctify? I can't.

Kass doesn't need Daddy anymore! See Kass send Daddy back to the helicopter. Daddy is upset. No, Kass, no, says Daddy. Yes, Daddy, yes, says Kass. Daddy goes back to the helicopter. But Daddy remembers. Remember, Daddy, remember. It was too easy. Daddy senses a trap. Look out, Kass! Look out!

See the helicopter head back to Belle Reve? Bye bye, Helicopter! Bye bye! Bye bye, Daddy! Bye bye!

But Daddy does not want to go! Daddy wants to help Kass. The Swan is going to play a mean game with Kass. A very mean game. Daddy kills the guards with his bare hands. Beat them, Daddy, beat them! Daddy gets the key to his shackles with his teeth. Bite, Daddy, bite! Daddy escapes from the helicopter! See Daddy fall. Fall, Daddy, fall! Daddy smashes into the ground. Smash! Crash! Daddy gets up, unhurt!

Daddy has escaped to help Kass! Go help Kass, Daddy! Help Kass!

Batwing #32 Rating: -2 Ranking. I guess Lucas Fox had to learn that being a member of the Bat-family meant losing people that are close to you and spiraling deeper and deeper into a place of darkness before rising out of it on the other side an emotionless, secretive bastard. Although the troubles Lucas Fox got into in this last story were not due to his being Batwing. So I guess what he really should have learned is that Gotham City is too dangerous for anybody to live in it. His youngest sister Tiffany is now safe thanks to Batwing (although no thanks to Lucas Fox so that's a wash) but his other sister Tam has severe brain damage. This causes Luke Fox to have a crisis of faith because faith is easy to have when God is only killing members of other people's families. But bad things shouldn't happen to you when you believe in Jesus! Didn't Jesus get the memo that you worship him and shit? Why would he punish you for worshiping him?! I'm sure Luke will make peace with Jesus before the series is over because I don't fucking know why. Nothing about this character interests me and his sister being fitted for a refrigerator was just depressing.

Batman Eternal #6

The "eternal" part of this cover is beginning to feel like a threat.

Who decided weekly comic books were a good idea? I hope that person is dead now!

This issue begins with Batwing battling Gentleman Ghost which starts it off on two wrong feet. First foot, I don't need more Batwing in my comic books. Second foot, Gentleman Ghost reminds me how fucking awful the Reboot Hawkman was. Too bad Fleshpoint caused me to forgot who wrote and drew that comic book or else I'd lament that time travel isn't possible causing me to be unable to go back in time and cockblock the writer's grandfather.

Batman only believes crazy things because he understands that real world logic is illogical if you live in a comic book. That's why Mister Terrific was cancelled. Because he thought being an atheist in the DC Universe made sense. Dumb dumb!

Meanwhile The Spectre's boy toy, Jim Corrigan, pays Bruce Wayne a visit. Strange hoodoo is going down in Gotham City and The Spectre just wanted Batman to know about it. Batman is busy worrying about Falcone trying to bang his city, so he doesn't have time to deal with mystical nonsense. He tells Jim to keep him in the loop on whatever he finds and hires out Batwing to run around as his sidekick. That's me assuming there! Since Batwing was in the beginning pages completely bewildered by the supernatural, and since Batman has offered some Batfamily help to Jim, it makes sense that Batwing will become The Spectre's sidekick for a bit.

Meanwhile under Arkham Asylum, The Joker's Daughter is busy chopping off the left arm of anybody that has a dark dream about her Gotham Underground home covered in black hand prints. She's trying to "bring the man back" through this odd ritual. It's a good thing The Joker's Daughter is appearing now! She can benefit from Fleshpoint because I can't remember how horribly she was written in her previous appearances! Now I'm not biased against her and her horrible dialogue and awful portrayal and nonsensical reasons for existing! Instead, she's just a crazy woman wearing The Joker's cut off face and doing insane things to try to bring somebody back! Possibly The Joker but more probably this Deacon Blackfire that's kind of been mentioned here and there. You know! The person that lit up Doctor Phosphorous. And it's that ritual that Corrigan has sensed and is going to investigate with Batwing.

Even though Batwing and The Joker's Daughter are involved, I'm starting to get interested in Batman Eternal!

Meanwhile, Alfred Pennyworth cleans mirrors in the Batmansion and Batman chases down a truck that gets blown up by Doctor Phosphorous. So that's kind of normal stuff for Gotham City.

Batman Eternal #6 Rating: +2 Ranking. So six issues in, here's what we've got: mystical hoodoo voodoo under Arkham, a gangwar between Falcone and The Penguin, Commissioner Gordon framed by some mysterious subway rider, Cluemaster and his gang planning something huge, runaway nanobots that seem to involve a half-mechanical monkey, and Professor Pyg still trying to molest children. It looks like this weekly thing is going to get pretty crazy! I think I might be up for that. Especially the mystic stuff! And remember, Catwoman is going to be taking over everything at some point!

Batwing #31

Is anybody out there even reading Batwing?

Reading this comic book is like calling my mother on Mother's Day. It's not enjoyable and it leaves me wondering why I even bothered. Which is a shame, really. Not the part about not enjoying talking with my mom. That's not the shame. The shame is that Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti write one of my favorite titles of The New 52, All Star Western, and they also write this. So why the huge discrepancy in my enjoyment of the two titles? I think the only conclusion to be made is that I'm probably racist.

You know what else is a shame? Both Batwing and All Star Western are near the bottom of The New 52 in sales. I don't mind so much if Batwing is cancelled (probably because Lucas Fox is black) but I don't want to lose Jonah Hex (white guy!) every month!

It doesn't help Batwing's case that he's now adventuring in the Gotham Underground which is just the most ridiculous location in the entire DC Universe! I don't really have anything more to say that won't get me in trouble due to coupling my facetious nature with the whole "I'm probably racist" bit from earlier, so here's a picture I drew many years ago that is apparently a furry version of The X-Files.

This was probably the product of a long, boring day at a forty hour per week desk job.

Previously in Batwing, Lucas Fox's family was having a really bad week. And by "really," I actually mean "fucking." A fucking bad week. A ver-fucking-y re-fucking-ally ba-fucking-ad we-fucking-eek. One of his sisters was brain damaged from drugs given to her by an old friend of Lucas Fox's that turned out to be a huge dick. This "friend" also kidnapped Lucas Fox's other sister. And to top it off, Batwing had to enter Ann Nocenti's Gotham Underground to find them. At least he entered the Underground through a different Rook than Catwoman did so Jimmy and Justin could make up their own Post Apocalyptic Societies and they didn't have to rely on the idiots Nocenti created in Catwoman.

Batwing has finally come face to face with his old friend. I've been calling him The Victimizer but it seems his name is Menace. That's probably a better name if you want your super villain to be taken seriously. Also it explains everything you need to know about him in one word. He's a menace!

If I were a super hero or a super villain, I wouldn't telegraph my powers or my intentions in my choice of names. I'd probably name myself The Daisy. Unless my super power was bringing a smile and a bit of beauty into a person's life. Then I'd call myself Wolverine.

Oh. I guess Lucas Fox is a man of God. I think I missed that in the earlier issues. Possibly because I slept through them.

I like how Lucas Fox questions the all-knowing God in that second panel and he sets up blaming God in the first one! If Batwing does kill Menace, it's only because fucking God didn't give him the strength to not do it! And if Batwing does kill Menace, I guess God didn't give him the strength for a reason and it was God's will that Batwing kill Menace thus Batwing need not take any responsibility for his own fucking life. Hey Batman?! I think you might have chosen poorly for the new Batwing!

Menace begins spouting quotes as he kills Jackal Men. Since Menace is acting crazy and in a seeming blood frenzy, Batwing automatically assumes that Menace is simply spouting crazed nonsense. But he'd be wrong!

Maybe Menace should have taken the name "Pretentious Dickhole."

Here's a helpful hint to not being an asshole, Menace: don't judge other people for not recognizing your obscure quotes. Just because you were interested in 18th Century German Poetry (or, more likely, the single 18th Century German Poet you're now quoting), it doesn't make you better read than everybody that hasn't read the same shit. A person that doesn't have the same experience that you have does not automatically mean that person is somehow less than you. I'm sure Batwing can quote some equally boring bullshit which you wouldn't recognize. And he probably will later in this issue when he defeats you and says, "I'm a reader too!" I bet he quotes Booker T. Washington when he said that thing he said that made him super famous! I'd quote it but I don't want to look like an asshole!

Batwing beats the shit out of Menace for a few pages before Menace, thankfully, doesn't say, "Is that all you've got?" Although he does say "You done?" which is practically the same thing. Then it's his turn to pummel Batwing for a few pages!

Meanwhile at the...oh, I'll just let the comic book say it!

This comic book isn't interesting enough to be this depressing!

Lucius Fox leaves his wife to bathe their daughter and heads off to church to pray for his family. Because going off on your own to pray to God is so much better than being with your wife and daughter to comfort and love them. The reason they resent you, Lucius, is because you're never around! And now when they really need you, you're taking off again! But at least you're doing something useful like praying.

Deeper in the Gotham Underground, Tiffany and The Ratcatcher are hanging out together. And Tiffany has decided that doing for herself is better than waiting for all-powerful God to do for her.

Tiff's plan is to complain about the facilities. The letter opener she stuffed into her shoe might be part of the plan as well.

Once Ratcatcher takes Tiff to the surface (the surface of the Gotham Underground! Not the surface surface that's the real surface!), she stabs him in the leg with her letter opener and runs off into the crowd. Enh. Praying probably would have worked just as well.

Back to the exciting action sequence featuring the titular character, Batwing knocks Menace into the underground lake where Menace is eaten by a huge fish. Batwing walks off knowing that Menace will be back to fuck with him, Joker style, but he can't be bothered with worrying about that. Batwing isn't a killer, after all! Also, he's apparently not a guy that subdues a villain and takes him to the police where he can be arrested and processed by the justice system where he might wind up properly punished and behind bars. I mean, it's an option! Although the justice system in Gotham really isn't any different than knocking a person into the gaping maw of a gigantic fish.

Batwing walks off to find Tiff and Menace climbs back to the surface because the fish that ate him must have had severe diarrhea. And he mutters, "Lucas Fox, hero." I guess Batwing's finishing kick was a kick that Russell (Menace's real name) and Lucas learned together in their self defense class they took together as kids.

Batwing #31 Rating: No change. If this comic book had three times as much Ratcatcher as it had this issue, I think I would have really liked it. He's the best looking character in this comic book, and he's the most entertaining as well.

Batwing #30

Who knows for how long?! I didn't think this comic would make it to issue thirty!

Last issue, Batwing found himself in the stupidest place in the DC Universe: The Gotham Underground. It's stupid because it's way too fucking big and nobody knows about it and Ann Nocenti created it. I think. Anyway, if it actually existed, Gotham City would simply collapse into the worlds biggest stinkhole. That wasn't a typo. I was fine with The Court of Owls having a huge Labyrinth under Gotham amid the subway systems and sewer tunnels. But this huge fucking cavern with tunnels and gangs and dams and trolls and Elvish Swords and treasures? It groin strains credulity. But I guess the executives and editors at DC ruined their silk underwear and expensive suits when they heard about it. I had the opposite reaction. What's the opposite of having an orgasm? Vomiting?

Currently Batwing is about to drown. Although he might get lucky and be eaten first.

Fish don't have hands, idiot. It's probably a tadpole. With hands!

Batwing kills the fish which, on the next page, actually does look like a tadpole on its way to becoming a giant frog man. After which it would probably have pulled itself from the Gotham Underground Lake it currently lives (and just died) in to go rent a house in Innsmouth.

Batwing is a bit upset that his sister Tamara now has brain damage because she took a drug called Crystaldeath. Instead of sitting in her room yelling at her for being so stupid, he's decided to blame the person that sold her the drugs. And he believes that person was an old fremesis of his, The Victimizer.

When Ann Nocenti placed Catwoman in the Gotham Underground, I said she might as well have had Catwoman walk through a portal to a fictional sword and sorcery world. It would have made more sense. And now Batwing is doing the same thing except he's stepped into a world of techno-horror. He's discovered a civilization where people are forced to work while security guards with speakers sewn on to their faces walk around broadcasting platitudes and rules: "A happy worker is a worker that doesn't give their manager any guff no matter how big an asshole the manager is!" "Have you ever heard a wrench argue about how many nuts you've made it tighten? Right? So shut the fuck up already!" "Lunch is for communists! Purchase the capitalist's best friend: Intravenous-ables! Now with M&Ms!" "Loving it? Of course not. Having a job is a luxury. Like meals and shelter." "No one stands above God. Except maybe The Job Provider." "You can rest when you're dead. As long as you put in a full forty hour work week first." "We don't provide Health Insurance because it's communism, plain and simple. If you need medical attention, pay for it. Don't rely on thousands of other healthy people to cover your medical costs with their monthly premiums, you leech."

Batwing defeats the Speaker-Faces and frees the parasitic Marxists. How are they going to provide for themselves? There's a lot more to owning the means of production than they realize! They'll have to gain some weight and learn to smoke cigars while subjugating and manipulating the needs of the many.

"But surely the Above Ground is just myth and sexual innuendo!"

The 15th Century man Batwing meets is called Samael. He calls the creatures Batwing just murdered "Speakerheads." I think my term, Speraker-Faces, is more accurate. But then I'm a 21st Century citizen and not some guy who's been trapped underground born into the serf class just because he didn't have enough money to graft an iPod to his head.

Samael speaks of "other rooks." I guess each Rook above ground leads to a different community in the Gotham Underground. Maybe I should simply pretend that the rook statues actually do open up portals into different dimensions. It's far more believable than this secret underground kingdom shit.

I think I use the phrase "not believable" a bit too much. It's like I don't realize I'm reading comic books! Why is the level of believability important to me?! I think it only matters to me when I'm reading a writer I can't stand. Or one of her ideas.

Batwing was a Fallout fan. I never did collect all the fucking Bobbleheads. Maybe I should go back to it. I wonder where I put my Fallout lunchbox?

Meanwhile Batwing's little sister, Little Batwing, is being held captive by The Rat Catcher and The Victimizer. But I guess that part of the story needs to take a back seat to Batwing's Adventures in The Gotham Underground. After dealing with the Speaker-Faces, he now gets double crossed by the guy he helped and taken to the Anubis Gang.

Didn't I already read this story in Catwoman? Except the characters had different costumes.

After Batwing gasses all of the Jackals, he kidnaps Mother Anubis and exits stage left, right into the crotch of The Victimizer.

Batwing #30 Rating: No change. This comic book gave me a headache. I suppose it wasn't horrible. The problem is it wasn't anything. Why was it needed? What did I just read? Batwing wandered around The Underground before running into The Victimizer. If this issue was needed for character development, I think it could have been done in one to three pages where Batwing discovers the Speaker-Faces and their slaves leading him to liberate the slaves by taking apart the Speaker-Faces piece by piece. I don't mean just knocking them out. He's angry about Tamara and worried about Tiffany and suddenly these guys stand in the way of his mission to find Tiff. So he should tear them apart. Pull speakers off of faces. Cut off arms and legs with Batarangs. Curb stomp a few of these guys. Maybe castrate one or two. But having him defeat them, get out of costume, get betrayed, get back into costume, and then finally find The Victimizer seemed like a lot of needless bullshit.
