The New Titans #89 (August 1992)

When a cover says “Big Changes Ahead,” what it really means is “Nothing happens this issue.” The “ahead” part is a dead giveaway.

Destiny does make a cameo although he’s not named as Destiny and instead called “a voice of the fates” or some nonsense. Even though Destiny made an appearance in the Titans before Sandman was a thing, it looks like he got yanked into Vertigo and a more important story. So the “Destiny” in this issue is just some dick who thinks he’s egging each Titan on to do something stupid. No wait. He actually just eggs on Terry and Pantha. They aren’t Titans at all! Although I suppose Pantha’s been loitering around Dayton’s mansion long enough to be on the roster.

The New Titans #78 (August 1991)

Wolfman’s really taking the piss now, isn’t he? How many issues does it take to wrap up this fucking Wildebeest story arc?! It seems only one major thing happens each issue now and the rest is just the Titans grumbling about what happened to Joseph, or Joseph maniacally plotting his plot. Could it be Wolfman just didn’t know how to wrap this thing up so it would make sense so he just kept extending it month after month? Or maybe he just thought this was going to be his Tristram Shandy. I’m surprised the Wildebeest story isn’t still going strong here in 2016.
